Director of Admissions - Kendall
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Director of Admissions oversees the daily operations of the Admissions Office. This activity includes supervising senior managers, review of special admissions cases, requests for exceptions to policy and consulting on faculty policy for admissions and articulation. Finally, this position reviews all final applicants to determine the students' objectives and readiness for appropriate programs. The Director of Admissions reports to the US Campus-Based Vice President of Enrollment, as well as the Campus President.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meets and exceed set enrollment targets on a regular basis
- Second interview all applicants and determine students' objectives and readiness for appropriate programs.
- Helps with the interviewing and hiring of new enrollment staff
- Coaches, mentors and helps train all departmental team members
- Establishes and implements short and long-range organizational goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates operational effectiveness; effects changes required for improvement.
- Designs, establishes, and maintains an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the organization's goals and objectives; recruits, employs, trains, supervises, and evaluates unit staff. Builds a positive team of admissions advisors and administrative staff through effective hiring, ongoing training, development and coaching of staff members
- Monitors individual and collective admissions goals on a consistent basis, providing factual data to school and corporate administration.
- Plans and develops strategies for admission of students to meet enrollment goals; develops and oversees admissions publications
- Manages admissions budget. Monitors departmental purchases and control costs for gifts, office supplies and expenses.
- Recommends and participates in the development of School policies and procedures; may serve on School planning and policy-making committees.
- Attends all staff meetings and works toward implementing new policies and changes, participating in intradepartmental communication and support. Attends Consortium meetings and maintain professional peer collegiate relationships.
- Stays informed on industry standards regarding use of recruitment materials and use of financial aid in strategic enrollment processes. Attends regular conferences and training sessions to achieve this goal.
- Plans and implements the structure, function, agenda and successful completion of Orientations and Open House dates.
- Maintains secure student files and enforces all regulations regarding student privacy and concerns until the file is transferred to the academic department.
Experience:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree is required, Graduate Degree in Education, Public Administration or Student Personnel Administration highly valued.
- 10+ years of university advising and university admissions experience; 5 of which should be in a managerial role
- Proprietary admissions experience preferred
- Successful managerial experience in admissions or related area
- Ability to develop an admissions division with a balance of academic quality and integrity with student-customer focused services
- Ability to think strategically, analyze critically and respond tactically
- Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures
- Proven ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive issues
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and train staff, including prioritizing and scheduling work assignments
- Employee development and performance management skills
- Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow and operating procedures
- Knowledge of computerized student information systems
- Knowledge of transfer of credit articulation agreements
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Excellent written communication, oral presentation skills and analytical skills
- Strong customer service/student service skills in a fast-paced, changing environment required.
