What sets us apart is our expertise, research and family-centered care. The Director, Clinical Services holds a key leadership position within the Children's Cancer Hospital at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. The Director is responsible for providing strategic leadership to the ambulatory care and in-patient operations of the Children's Cancer Hospital. This includes all aspects of clinical operations, nursing practice, professional development and education, customer service, finance, human resources, and quality outcome management.

The same source ranks the Children's Cancer Hospital as one of the top 15 hospitals in cancer care for children. Plus, we rank first in the number and amount of research grants awarded by the National Cancer Institute. In addition, we are a Magnet designated hospital, approaching our third such designation for nursing excellence.
Family Centered Care serves as our philosophy and approach to patient care. We understand that cancer is not just a physical disease, thus we have developed comprehensive programs that focus on the child as well the family.

We've been eliminating pediatric cancer for more than six decades.
In that time, we have pioneered therapies that are more effective and less invasive for our pediatric cancer patients.

'X Managing human resources functions and productivity and cultivating an effective team environment.
'X Directing clinical and business operations, including productivity, and resource allocation and compliance with all regulatory and accreditation agencies.
'X Leading quality and safety initiatives, including identification of outcome measures.
'X Actively developing strong relationships and partnerships within and across the organization to positively impact patient outcomes.
'X Challenging the status quo. Embracing, communicating, and promoting effective change.


The position reports to the Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer and the Physician Leader for the Children's Cancer Hospital.

The ideal candidate will have experience leading a professional clinical staff, building partnerships across disciplines in both inpatient and ambulatory operations. They will have a Master's Degree in Nursing or related field.
8-10 years of management/leadership experience reflecting increasing responsibility for nursing practice in pediatric care in highly complex organizations. Eligible to receive their registered nursing licensure in the state of Texas.
