RESEARCH ADMINISTRATOR, Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART) Center, to join a newly established entity in Singapore with an office at MIT. Will be responsible for independently managing the financial budgeting, monitoring, and reporting for two large-scale research projects; and support faculty and their research staff with administrative tasks on behalf of the research projects. Duties include preparing annual budgets, monthly review and reconciliation of expenditures, preparing semi-annual financial and progress reports, processing travel reimbursements, assisting with purchasing, assisting with the research projects' personnel management and processing new hire paperwork, assisting with events and outreach activities, and performing other duties as requested.
SMART is MIT's first research center of its kind outside of Cambridge, MA and will serve as an intellectual hub for interactions between MIT and global researchers in Singapore and throughout Asia. The center will be led by an MIT faculty member and housed in brand new buildings/facilities that will offer laboratories and computational facilities for research in a number of areas. The first two interdisciplinary research groups (IRGs) will focus on infectious disease and environmental sensing and modeling. The remaining groups will be defined over the next several years.
REQUIREMENTS: a bachelor's degree; a minimum of three years' experience in grants management, accounting, or related financial area; ability to take initiative and manage multiple simultaneous projects with frequent and changing deadlines and priorities; ability to remain focused while dealing with frequent interruptions; excellent analytical skills; and proficiency with Excel and Word. Must be able to work in a team environment with a strong service-oriented attitude. Attention to detail essential. Familiarity with MIT helpful. MIT-00006668
