PHOTO RESEARCHER, Technology Review (part-time, 10-15 hrs/wk.), to be responsible for locating and obtaining high resolution images and technology objects to be photographed for the magazine, and for researching and commissioning images for the technology review.com website. Will locate appropriate pictures for a given project within budget, obtain permissions and copyright requirements for their use, work with commissioned photographers when needed, and return unneeded items promptly and undamaged; maintain familiarity with all aspects of photographic reproduction (both print and web) in order to determine what an image will look like when reproduced; keep accurate records of all the items and sources of same items in your possession; and maintain exacting image credit requirements for all images and objects, chase down complex leads, diplomatically but aggressively work with sources (who may be academic, private industry, VC, or startup CEOs) who may be reluctant to release sensitive inventions, and keep track of all embargo concerns for publication. Will report to the design director.
REQUIREMENTS: skill with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator and with Internet searching, ability to manage several projects concurrently and prioritize them according to external factors, strong communication skills and ability to work with multiple people in a variety of functions, solid organizational skills, and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications. A four-year college degree is preferred, as is a background in photography or journalism. Experience with photo research and/or the website production process helpful. MIT-00006661-N
