POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, G.R. Harrison Spectroscopy Laboratory and Laser Biomedical Research Center-Vibrational Spectroscopy Group, to conduct experimental and theoretical research as a participant in a pioneering research program on Raman spectroscopy under the direction of Professor Michael S. Feld. Research includes the design and development of clinical instruments for glucose monitoring and atherosclerosis, experimental studies on single cells to diagnose malaria and on tissues in vivo (using confocal Raman and reflectance imaging) to understand interstitial glucose distribution, and Brillouin spectroscopic studies on biological samples for mechanical characterization.

REQUIREMENTS: a recent doctorate in physics, chemistry, or engineering with demonstrated experience in Raman spectroscopy research, preferably in biological applications of the same. Those with previous postdoctoral experience will be considered favorably. Previous work in confocal Raman spectroscopy will be a big plus. Should be comfortable with optical instrumentation and standard laboratory software such as MATLAB and LabVIEW. MIT-00006375
