Independently design experiments, perform lab work, evaluate data, and complete process development tasks
Complete associated project documentation
Manage and lead technical interactions and provide high level research documentation
Independently optimize operational processes and implement changes
Perform standard operational functions as required
Contribute to support functions of the labs and work areas
Perform training and act as a high level technical resource
Work in a team environment as team lead or team member
Perform a leaderhip role in assigned projects
Identify areas for process development
Productively work on several projects at a time
Lead process improvement initiatives
Prepare complete written procedures as needed

The performance of the job requires an individual that has a high level of technical lab skill and theoretical knowledge who can work independently, interact professionally within a team setting, either as the team lead or a team member and is highly self motivated.
The position requires an MS or Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, genomics or related life science field with at least 5 years of extensive lab experience. Extensive life science experience in R&D or process development may be acceptable. Previous manufacturing experience is highly desirable. The position requires demonstrated research or manufacturing experience and a detailed understanding in the following areas: quantitative PCR, nucleic acid isolation and purification, restriction enzyme digests, and aseptic technique. Demonstrated experience in successful experimental design, research experience and research documentation is required. Experience in protein chemistry and cell-based assays is desirable. Demonstrated knowledge of Quality Management Systems such as ISO is desirable. The candidate must be able to excel in a team atmosphere through communication and cooperation. The position requires the candidate to function as a technical resource and a role model for others. Compliance with corporate and departmental procedures, policies and regulations is required. Strong computer skills, excellent time management skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and an attention to detail in documentation practices are required. The position will require working with chemical and biological reagents in ambient, cold room and freezer conditions. Occasional shift work may be required. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
