Itron has an immediate, full-time opportunity open for a Senior Technical Writer who will create, develop, plan, write and edit operational, instructional, maintenance or test procedures for paper, multimedia or web-based publications. This includes conducting interviews with end users and technical staff to gather data for documentation, researching and translating technical information into manuals and/or web-based documents for non-technical and technical users and documenting engineering processes and specifications. Professional expertise will be used to recommend and develop content formats that apply to technical and customer requirements, resulting in products that comply with company documentation and quality standards.

Duties & Responsibilities
' Author and prepare component-based documentation, maintenance manuals and technical publications. Author-it software experience desirable
' Work as part of a technical communications team, providing direction to junior writers on the team.
' Research available engineering data such as drawings, design reports, equipment and test specifications
' Interview and work with engineers and other technical personnel to ensure accuracy and completeness of information at level required for intended audience
' Interface with other departments to ensure that customer needs, with regards to technical documentation, are being met
' Maintain documentation system for tracking, distribution and archival purposes
' Write individualized copy of analytical, interpretive, documentary or promotional literature
' Research software and hardware related problems and reach positive conclusions
' Estimate project bids and define project deliverables for writing projects
' Assume lead role on special projects assigned by the department manager
' Provide training to entry-level writers as appropriate
' Support common look and feel across all product lines and with team members in other offices

Requires a minimum of 5 years of technical writing experience
Bachelor's degree in Technical writing, communications or equivalent degree.
Experience working with Author-It is preferred and extensive knowledge of MS Office Suite required if no Author-IT experience.
Travel Requirements: 1 - 10%
