Station Engineering, a department within our PPL Generation organization is seeking one student to work full time (40 hours/week) during Summer semester 2009, in Berwick, PA.

Responsibilities:

Position will entail:
-- Researching and developing Preventive Maintenance Template for a specific type of component (i.e. controllers, chargers/batteries, heat exchangers, pumps) based on industry data and specific site performance.
-- Analyzing and obtaining craft feedback from work performed to identify potential areas to improve equipment performance.
-- Observing and analyzing craft work on preventive maintenance tasks to identify potential areas to improve equipment performance.
-- Evaluating equipment preventive maintenance tasks for grouping based on similar application and manufacture to support deployment of new computer module for equipment reliability.
-- Evaluating, determining common factors and transferring Preventive Maintenance task into a new computer module.

Former interns have assisted in projects like:
-- Analyzing and obtaining craft feedback from work performed to identify potential areas to improve equipment performance during past refuel outages.
-- Researching equipment performance & history to develop recommendations for modifying current preventive maintenance task (both frequency & scope of work).
-- Applying industry equipment reliability techniques to develop preventive maintenance strategies for critical component types.
-- Developing Preventive Maintenance Guides for fans, solenoids valves and control relays.
-- Presenting completed Guides to Industry Peer Group meetings to obtain outside input and expertise.

Qualifications:

Candidates must meet the basic qualifications to receive consideration.

Basic Qualifications:
-- Pursuing an Engineering or Engineering Technology baccalaureate or masters degree program.
-- Enrolled on a full-time basis (minimum 12 semester hours).
-- Enrolled in an accredited college or university.
-- Eligible to work in accordance with the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.
-- 18 years or older.
-- Able to provide an official student transcript.

Other Qualifications:
-- Able to work in a team environment.
-- Able to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills.
-- Desire to see the operation of a power station.

Salary: $13.00 - $19.25/hr
