Position Summary
Under general supervison serves as a business partner and enabler of HR functions to assigned client group. The position is responsible for moderately complex HR activities and a broad range of human resources services in support of business objectives and human resources initiatives. These services include: staffing, employee and labor relations, organizational effectiveness, talent management, compensation and benefits, and training and development. Works with regular guidance using knowledge of HR operations, policies & procedures.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Builds relationships with managers/supervisors in client group to better understand the business and to facilitate the involvement of human resources in the decision making process. Assists in providing counsel that will utimately improve the hiring, retention and development of staff. Using HR policies and corporate goals and values identifies and recommends solutions to problems and issues in the business setting.
2. Assists other senior HR professionals who consult with business line leadership on issues of talent acquisition and retention. Assists in the management and coordination of staffing efforts, internal and external recruitment strategies and effective recruitment strategies and techniques.
3. Begins to formulate responses to employee relations issues including assists in coaching employees and managers on performance management and execution of performance improvement plans.
4. Assists in the Annual Performance Appraisal/Salary Planning process and the facilitation of the annual administration process. Assists more senior HR professionals in guiding client group leadership to develop job descriptions for open positions or position re-evaluations. Assists in the coordination of Benefits Open Enrollment and provides the necessary support to the roll-out of all benefit programs and related communications.
5. Supports other senior HR generalists working with client group leaderships in the identification of training needs, staff development opportunities, and labor relations functions.
6. Builds knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Affirmative Action (AA) and diversity programs to be able to direct client groups to ensure that the client is in compliance with all federal and state regulations that affect employment practices. Assists client groups in championing PPL's core values and vision and Diversity Program initiatives.
7. Provides feedback to more senior HR generalists on the business unit needs and priorities to assist with improving process and/or programs. Analizes information and reports to assess effectiveness of HR practices and actions. Looks for process improvement initiatives that will yield better and more effective results.
Basic Qualifications
1. Bachelors Degree or equivalent years of experience noted above.
2. Two to four years of HR experience.
3. Effective knowledge of the human resource function including: Compensation and Benefits, Labor Relations,Staffing and Training and Development.
4. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and databases.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Two years of HR generalist experience.
2. SPHR or PHR certification.
3. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
4. Strong client-service orientation, ability to work well with individuals on all levels of the organization.
